You may be wondering about the biggest trends emerging this year. Sustainability? Innovative tech? While those are exciting aspects of local design, another strong movement stood out: female-led design teams.
One of my favorite examples: In Barton Hills, an all-female team saw the potential of a midcentury home, restoring and updating the dilapidated structure to suit a modern lifestyle. When discussing the installation of a new glass top to the shower, the designers had a good laugh: “The only glass ceilings that belong in architecture are those that top steam showers,” architect Candace Wong said.
